Percentage of deferred admits

As we come close to D-Day (decision day of course  ), I just am wondering if anyone knows the percentage of ED deferred students who are admitted. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find this statistic anywhere, but I (and I’m sure many of the other deferees, if that’s a word) would most definitely appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm afraid I don't know the stats for you, but I liek the way you call March 29 D-Day :]

haha Thanks. And no problem (that you can't find it), because I really don't know if Brown releases enough data for us to at least get a rough percentage.

22 Days!

they said in the letter that it was the same rate as that for the regular decision applicants accepted. so that would lie somewhere between 13% and 17% (probably much closer to 13%).

Optimistically, however, roughly 1,400 were deferred, so you have a better chance than those applying regular decision (statistically). They're taking ~13% from 1,400 rather than 17,000.

It's not a better chance - 13% is 13% regardless of the sample size.
C'mon people!

yeah lol. I've heard that (like many other colleges) Brown has a slightly higher (if not significantly higher, i.e. + 10%) percentage for deferred candidates, even though the letter says it is the same proportion as other RD candidates.

cocoapunk - whoa that would be awesome..where did you hear this?

Well a semi-reliable source - my high school college counselor haha

One reason it's tough to figure out the percent of deferred students who get accepted is that some of them apply elsewhere EDII, and then withdraw their application when accepted. I think the better question to ask is what percent of deferred students who have contacted admissions after the deferral to reaffirm their interest are accepted. That's a number we'll probably never know.
