of course you can transfer from a CSU to a UC. hundreds do it every year. the downside is that some units might not go with you.

In my defense, a 3.0 gpa at my private school is probably equivalent to a 3.5 at the public schools in my area. I know thats not justifying it, but Im not an idiot who doesnt give a ****. I am motivated and this past semester got a 3.43. Would an upward trend help, like if i got a 3.6 first semester junior year?

My current top 5 schools at this point are
1) Gonzaga
2) UCSC
3) UC Davis (its a real reach i know)
4) University of Portland
5) Cal Poly

what about an out of state student. 3.29 gpa, 29 ACT. for sdsu and any UC's?

possibly a low UC or a middle high CSU if you bring something else to the table. the easier route would be for both of you to go to an instate CC and then transfer in with better grades. the other thing to do is to take the SAT. Some CA schools regard the ACT as an eastern invention and prefer SAT scores.

I think some of these people are being a little harsh...I would apply to all of the schools on your list (and only take off the ones that you decide you really don't like) and just see what happens. If you are worried about not getting in anywhere, add another safety or two. Don't worry, I have friends who had 2.5 GPA's and got into decent Liberal Arts Schools. Don't believe that you HAVE to go to communty college first.

Also, 100% of the kids from my school go to 4 year colleges, so i really dont want to take the CC route. Wouldnt you think they would consider the school and my SAT scores over my gpa?

Yes, and I also don't think your GPA is THAT bad, considering the school you go to. You never know WHAT these colleges are looking for. I have some friends who have PERFECT stats and really got screwed over this year, and I have some friends who seem to just be average, but are ending up at good schools.
