Percentages

What’s the percentages for ED?

30% Accept
40% Defer
30% Reject

Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure that's about right

Oh cool. Then I may not get rejected after all.

So for me it would be like:
5% Accept
45% Defer
50% Reject

Better than I thought.

lol 1/20 shot! Good luck

It's actually like this:

30% Accept
30% Defer
40% Reject

i'm thinking 10% accept 10% reject 80% defer followed by a 50% waitlist 50% reject

These are my percentages. How I will do.

lol...what?

12% of those deferred in December are accepted in the Spring.

Oh I get what venkater was saying

harvard doesn't even reject that much

Penn's rejection percentage is really high

For the class of 2010:

Accepted: 28.7%
Deferred: 31% (12% of deferred accepted during RD)
Rejected: 40.3%

So it's sort of like... If you're not rejected, you have almost a 50/50 shot of getting in.

lol...but there's no way of knowing whether you'll be rejected, so you can't really look at it like that

Not true. You have to consider that you can get in if you are deferred.

61.12% chance of getting in if you are not rejected.

nooooo

say there is 3000 people applying

30% of them will be accepted = 900
30% of them will be defered = 900
40% of them will be rejected = 1200

of the 900 that are defered only 12% of them are accepted = 108

so if you are defered you have about a 1 in 10 chance of getting in not 50/50

If you're not rejected, you can fall into two categories: accepted or deferred.

Let's say n=3000 students.

Accepted: 900
Deferred: 900
Rejected: 1200

There are 1800 students who are not rejected. 12% of 900 is 108. 108+900=1008.

1008/1800 ~= 56%

^ If you know for sure that you will not get rejected (no one can say that they are, unless they are recruits....) then that % would work for the chances of getting in.

jcromero did you just copy my post lol

yup, thats plagiarism

"Creativity is forgetting who you stole it from"
