i have gotten 3*800 on 3 subject tests... but even with 800, i've gotten percentiles tht weren;t quite THAT good...
physics - 800 - 93 percentile
chemistry - 800 - 95 percentile
math level II - 800 - 90 percentile

how r they not higer!!

does tht mean that 10% of america got an 800 in math level II?

Yes, 10% of scorers got an 800 on Math level II. But remember, not all of America takes these tests. Only the people who know they are good at math, specifically trig, take math level II. Hence, the skewed percentiles.

yeah i got 800 on Math 2 and it says 90%...does it say that for everyone or is the percentage adjusted for those who got more right than the other ppl who got 800s?

I got an 800 on math 2 and mine says 90% too, so it must just say that for everyone; it's not very likely that the posters on this thread have the same raw score.

Math II has a very generous curve. I took it in June this year and got an 800, which was an 88th percentile. I remember leaving the last 7 problems (54-60) blank, so I guess I must have gotten the rest correct.

To begin with, only the top level schools ask for SAT II, so only top level kids are taking them. Add to that the fact that you can choose what subjects you take, and now your test-taking population is kids applying to top-level schools taking subjects that they are especially good in. As a result you can get great SAT II scores and shockingly low %.

Also remember that not everyone who takes math 2c and gets 800 also gets 800s on physics & chemistry - so you are probably well above the 90th percentile.

(Side note: it is incorrect to use % in place of "percentile" because percentile refers to your performance relative to the other test-takers. A better shorthand I've seen is "%ile".)

Got a 790 on Math Level IIc..so close...but probably good enough for UCSD, USC, etc. But since SAT works off a range score, a 800 could be my ability.
And from what I read, % are not looked at by colleges because of the fact that they are not accurate. Of course I took the test because I was a math genius. That what so many other people say in their head too.
