Perfect 800 Writing Scores SAT I

How many can you miss on the multiple choice section and still get an 800 on the writing section? I just took the practice test CB offers to print out and missed 7. But two weeks ago I took the CB Test #8 and missed only 3! Would that qualify for an 800?

It must obviously go with your essay though. So does it breakdown similar to this:

Essay / MC
12 / (-3)= 800
11 / (-2)= 800
10 / (-1)= 800
9 / (-0)= 800

Also any tips on improving writing scores. Probably the most helpful tip I've heard is to get rid of sentences with "being?"

On the Oct test, I got 11/-1 and that was 790.

Wow that seems like a harsh curve! I saw that a lot of people on the Nov. SAT got a 800 with essays with 9's and 10's. The 10's had less than perfect raw scores...like 78!

P.S. any tips on how to get -1 and an 11?

I got 11/-5 and it was a 710. (Oct. test)

11/-3 in October for 740.

I think they weigh multiple choice a lot more than the essay because I got a 10/80 in November and I got an 800.

@chillaxin: Any Indentifying Writing Errors Tips? Thanks!

I could really use the help; 8 days left!!!

Get the Barron's ACT book and review their English section on grammar. It's seriously a lifesaver.

ACT? Is it the same?

It's basically the same grammar rules being tested, but all the SAT books I saw barely went over the grammar rules and the Barron's ACT book goes really in-depth with it so you understand it a lot better than if you read say, the Blue Book or PR's SAT1 book. I would review an actual SAT book for the writing also, but the ones that I saw had at most about 10 pages on it.

Yeah MC is much more important. I got a 800 with 80 MC and 9 essay. Last May I got a 770 with 80 MC and 8 essay.

@emperor550: WOW! 80 both times...any tips on it?

@chillaxin: The 2004 edition? It looks like this:
