Crime in the US has generally fallen greatly since the 1980s. However, with respect to homicides, Chicago seems to have seen a smaller drop compared to other cities, and a large recent rise that has erased most of the drop.

The following article makes more comparisons with other cities. What the article does not mention is that many of the cities with recent large increases are among the more highly racially segregated cities in the US (St. Louis, Baltimore, Washington, Milwaukee, as well as Chicago).
