Your thoughts of this award.

I got it a few times in elementary school =]

It is precious, and they award that in HS? really?

Meaningless when it comes to college applications. It either means that a student has an exceptionally strong immune system and a lot of good luck or it means that the student insisted on going to school while sick, and selfishly exposed many others to their germs.

Then I was selfish throughout high school ;)

Or it really means that the student never had to miss school for community service trips, MUN conventions, track meets, academic competitions....

...he's missing out on a lot! =p

Absolutely worthless.

I would be impressed by a student who misses two thirds of his classes but gets straight As nevertheless. A perfect attendance record seems somewhat... meaningless. My first thoughts were much like Northstarmom's.

If I were on an adcom and saw that, I'd feel that the student was desperate to get more stuff on his resume.... not a good sign

Yea, I agree with all the comments in this topic. Useless award

Stupid award. I was out 51 days because of a brain tumor. Not like I could help it.

^You could have used your cellphone less or used a headset

Useless for college, but would probably be noted when applyign for a job I would think.

hahhhhhh could it be more pointless?

have a day off. relax.

and stop infecting the rest of the world when you're sick. really, we'd rather you avoid infecting us than get an ego-boosting dork award. :)

He he...my friend is fiercely proud of almost winning that award in HS. She has never missed one day of school in her life, in any grade since Pre-K. My other friends and I don't understand it.

Unlike the above posters, I think it shows a strong will and perseverance.

Same here, or just really mean parents.

I also think it shows an admirable work ethic and bodes well for your future.

just plain stupid. it doesnt actually take any skill to get except a respirator and a bunch of antibacterial soap

It's obsessive, is what it is. If you never missed school, good for you, but for most it's simply impossible. Whether it be sickness or going a day or two early on vacation with your family or a prior commitment for an EC or a field trip or any of a million other things, nearly everybody misses school for one reason or another. Honestly, the award doesn't prove much. Anyone who misses days of school might have the same work ethic as somebody who doesn't miss school, it's not exactly a great correlation.
