perfect attendence

So far I have perfect attendence. However, with possible upcoming events (science fair, etc) I may have to drop it. Do colleges take any note of perfect attendence?

Of course I would rather attend the state science fair and miss school than not attend and have perfect attendance. Just wondering

Let’s put it this way: In terms of mass, perfect attendance is .00000000001 kg while winning or placing in a state science fair is 1 kg. Count the decimal places.

I agree with WolfBane2. Perfect attendance is nothing in comparison with science fair. This isn’t kindergarten anymore, where we got stickers and candy for perfect attendance ;)

imo perfect attendance would be harder to get than placing in a science fair, at least imo. Think about it 12 years no misses. Too bad my opinion doesn’t mean squat.

Um…what would perfect attendance show to AdCom? That you don’t get sick, and never have conflicting schedules? Please, no one cares if you have perfect attendance. I don’t think colleges even see your high school attendance record. They already have enough crap to read about you, why would they care if you missed a day of school?

It’s not that you never get sick, but you never miss school because you are sick.

perfect attendance = nerd
science fair = geek

what to choose

I lost perfect attendance on the first day of high school… I came the second day.

"perfect attendance = nerd
science fair = geek

what to choose"

I’d say that’s backwards.

A lot of high achievers miss days of high school to attend competitions. If you haven’t missed any, I guess you haven’t attended any of those competitions :)

Honestly I agree with aeolia. This isn’t kindergarten where perfect attendance means a gold star.

Colleges won’t know about perfect attendance anyways. It usually doesn’t show up on your transcript and it basically holds no weight in the admissions process. They want to see kids who take initiative…even if those kids occasionally miss school.

No one cares at all if you have perfect attendance. Millions of people who have missed dozens of days of school could have better chances than some lamer that hasn’t missed a single one

Having perfect attendance will get you instantly rejected because it means you didn’t have the sense to stay home when really sick; rather, you chose to subject all your peers to whatever contagious illness you had.

And everybody’s been really sick at some point in high school.

Fortunately, there is a way to show colleges you do have good judgment after all. Schedule an interview with a college, then cancel saying that you’re too sick. That’s an instant admit.

DISCLAIMER: this post was made facetiously. do not actually try this in real life.

I wish schools would stop with nonsensical perfect attendance award. Too many kids go to school when they are extremely ill, and then get MY kids sick.

I think perfect attendance awards are just plain stupid. I mean, people get SICK. People have OBLIGATIONS (i.e., I had to miss school because of my grandmother’s funeral a few years ago). Often it is no fault or choice of theirs that keeps them home. Giving kids with perfect attendance an admissions edge isn’t fair.

Besides… how would colleges even KNOW?
