So, I took the New SAT my sophomore year and I got a 1390 overall so I’m obviously going to retake it especially since I have a bit of time left in high school. However, I ended up getting all 8s on the essay (probably bc I had an amazing APLang teacher). When I’m sending scores under a score choice program, is there any way I can send that SAT essay with a different test score from a later date. Like, can it be separated from my 1390 in any way? Thanks!
As I understand it, you can’t break an essay score (or math or reading) away and send it alone. HOWEVER, the colleges will understand that it was your first time taking the SAT, and as long as you are improving your score as a junior, I would send the perfect essay score. You should continue taking the essay, though, because there are some schools that require SAT/ACT score with essay for big scholarships, and all scores have to be from the SAME test date.
