so i have a 45/45 on my IB and NO, that ISN'T a 'predicted' score, it's my ACTUAL score. but i have an average sat score (2170). my guidance counselor has advised me to retake my sat's this month and aim for a 2250+ because she believes that without it i may not have much of a shot at the top schools (top 5). i have decent ec's btw, nothing WOW though. i was just wondering, does my 45/45 count for nothing because of that sat score? i'm really stressed out right now so any and all comments would be welcome. thank you.

Your SAT score is not “average,” in fact it’s very good. I think it would be wise to take it again, just from personal experience. I raised my score 100 points my second time. So really, it can’t hurt you. Your IB scores are great: you can’t do anything else there. Now it’s time to focus on your retest and your apps.

^ apps are done. just the retest to go.

yeah, i was thinking about a retake even before my gc mentioned it, too. but i thought january would be too late. apparently, it isn’t so i will be taking it one last time this month. i just hope i can get to a 2250+ score because i don’t want all my previous work to go to waste. :(

How do you already have an actual IB score?

^ i already graduated.
