I'm taking the January SAT and i'm really close to my goal...to reach it i have to get a perfect score on both math and writing...i am good on the math part but i'm having some trouble with writing

how many mc can i get wrong/what essay score do i need to get 800 on writing??

how can I study for writing (i always get 2-4 wrong)

how many mc can i get wrong and get 800 in reading and math? (just curious on the reading one...no where near it)

You can get 2 wrong(like wrong, not omit) with a 12 essay and get an 800 on an average SAT. On a hard one you can get 2 wrong and 1 omit with a 12 essay and get an 800.

Depends from test to test, but I missed one and got 11 on the essay and got a perfect. I think there was someone else who got a 10 on the essay, missed one MC, and also got a perfect.

As far as math goes, none. You basically have to get them all right to get a perfect.

For reading, probably two wrong, maybe three if you’re lucky.

On writing I got 1 wrong + 10 essay for an 800. Personally I think this is the easiest way to do it. A 10 essay can be guaranteed if you fill the two pages, and write fairly well. Also, getting 1 wrong on the multiple choice isn’t that hard if you study well.

Math (I got an 800 on this section as well), isn’t that hard - but to get an 800 (I only got it half the times I took the SAT), you just have to be focused. Don’t tell yourself it is easy or you will screw up.

Reading - only section I didn’t get an 800 on - just practice practice practice…

Same as SheepGetKilled - 1 wrong and 10 essay. I saw someone else who got a 790 with 0 wrong on MC and an 8 essay, so the essay is still pretty significant if you’re working for a full score.

Depends on the curve, but a 12 essay will give you some decent leeway in all situations. I got a 790 writing with a 10 essay and 1 missed multiple choice

My Bad card. I think 2 wrong and one omit makes more sense in that scenario, I completely forgot about the penalty since I am so used to the “2 wrong scenario” in which you don’t lose any extra points anyway because they round up. But it is impossible to tell which curve your SAT is on, so I think it is always better to think that getting 2 wrong is the only viable option if you aim for a perfect score. Omitting something is a last ditch effort.

It depends on the test… I got 11 on my essay and 2 MC wrong whereas my friend who got 9 on the essay and 2 MC wrong got 750-770 (I don’t remember the exact score).

Based on my test, you can’t miss any on math in order to get an 800. Writing you can miss 3 with a score of 10 on the essay or 4 with an 11. However, the curves change from test to test (or so I’ve been told. lol)

I thought that October, November, and December tests had the best curves and that January had a pretty harsh curve…?
And you have to get every single question right to get an 800 on math. For writing, you need at least a 10 on the essay to be able to get an 800.

It does make a huge difference which month you take the test. Last January I missed 3 MC in the Writing section, got an 8 on the essay and ended up with a 680. In Nov I missed 1, got a 9 essay and received an 800.
