Perfecting Social Psychology

Hypothetical Situation: You see one of your good buddies talking to someone you don't know. I usually just walk past and give him a friendly glance/smile without directly say "hi". Is this socially appropriate? I don't directly confront and say "hi" while he is confabbing because I am afraid of being rude and inconsiderate and rude and arrogant. Justified?

You write good books.

It’s fine. No need to overanalyze the situation.
