<p>As a former member of the notorious Trojan Marching Band, I can attest that there were many performance majors in the band. Why? Because the TMB gave out scholarships. The School of Music learned it helped in recruiting. All the performance majors were brass, percussion or jazz as the classical woodwind profs did not allow their students to join. There were also a bunch of composition majors because performing in the marching band counted in the ensemble requirements.</p>
<p>So, I would also recommend checking with the marching bands to see if they offer scholarships.</p>
