Performance Resum

notmamarose,

To answer the hypothetical question you posed to me. I would say that the stronger audition trumps the stronger resume every time

I know this has been discusses on this forum (as i read it a few months ago)and I tried really hard to find it again-but I just can't, so I will post my questions here.
I am trying to help my d with college application to MT programs. I realize that a performance resume is needed for the audition and I feel that I know how to get that together. I am having such a difficult time with the activities resume needed for acceptance into colleges/universities and for scholarships. My d is been active in high school, community and church theatre. On the activities resume, should I list all the shows, or just generally name the theatres, schools etc? She attends a local high school for one half of the day and an arts high school for half of the day with a one hour commute in between. This leaves very little time for community service. She is active in our church choir and ensemble and performs in the community in that respect (retirement homes, orphanages etc). Is that considered community service or extra-curricular? She also performs the Nation Anthem for various communtiy groups and sporting events. Is this considered community service? If so do I need to list all of her performances of just generalize it. She has also taken private voice lessons, piano lessons and dance classess. I realize that these should go on her activities resume, but should I list how often each week she takes dance classes. Finally, one last question--We live in the New Orleans area so had to evacuate last year. My d spent her junior year at an arts high school in CA. She is home now in Louisiana and will return to her old high school and arts school. Her activies were interrupted for one year, although, she was able to continue some in CA. I don't want the admissions staff to think that she dropped out for a year. Should a write a note explaining the situation, or do you think it matters? Any help or information would be so greatly appreciated!

I hear a great college essay in the works (Katrina, move, etc). With such an essay, there would be no need to explain. Also, in the resume there is generally some description of where the activity took place and that would explain the different venues.
