Does anyone have insight on the difference between these two majors? Does being a Performance Studies major have an impact on getting into department shows? Any help would be appreciated!!

Performance Studies, as a field, is completely different from Theatre and is quite possibly the most misunderstood field at NU. I’ve had majors give me a definition that was wrong. Are you sure you understand what it is?

(I did and independent study in a crossover area with Performance analysis with a Perf. Studies Professor).

“The Department of Performance Studies integrates artistic and analytical approaches to a wide range of performance texts, events, and processes. The courses explore an inter-disciplinary range of literary, cultural, and personal texts in performance. The department has particular strengths in the study of literature through solo performance; the ensemble adaptation and staging of poetic, narrative, and nonfictional texts; intercultural performance; performance art; cultural studies and the ethnography of performance; performance theory and criticism.”

Feel free to further help me understand the differences, arbiter.
