Does Columbia look for students who perform well and do the best with what they have or more of students who have godly ECs and grades no matter what? In the sense that I attend a very small private school that is less than 10 years old. We have no clubs or sports teams, and until two years ago, no APs. Is this made known to them or am I essentially screwed?

Columbia looks for people who give a what about people other than themselves, people who aren’t afraid to try new things and experiment. Oh and they especially look for people who don’t ask silly generalized questions that don’t bring them any closer to a holistic understanding of admissions.
