Hello all - I graduated in this past May from Virginia Tech and have been getting everything in line to begin repayment of my loans since the grace period ended in November. I already have everything taken care of for the Sub/Unsub Loans. On December 5th, I received notice from Virginia Tech about completing Exit Counseling for my Perkins Loan (I just got this past week since it was sent to my parents' home address).

Prior to attending Tech, I went to VCU in Richmond, VA from 2009-10. My Sub/Unsub loans from Tech and VCU are both listed on my loan servicer account, but my Perkins loan from VCU is not with my Perkins Loans from Tech. I called VCU FinAid to confirm that I did take out a Perkins Loan and that I completed the Exit Counseling in 2010 - everything checked out. The loan servicer customer service said that they only had Perkins from Virginia Tech for me and I can't access any of my VCU accounts online.

Aside from talking to VCU, is there a way to find out what happened to this Perkins Loan? I am worried that I won't find out in time since the offices at VCU are closed for break and I don't want to risk missing a payment. Thanks for your help!

Perkins Loans are issued through each college, and the proceeds go back to that college for new loans. The different colleges may use different loan servicing companies. As long as your parent’s address hasn’t changed from the time you attended VCU, the loan company should have no trouble contacting your family with payment information.
