Perkins Loan

Does anyone how schools give out perkins loan. I know it is limited and is only for those who are in extreme need. However, I am trying to figure out my admissions chances here more than financial aid. CMU is a school that prepares aid packages for accepted and waitlisted students. Do you think a college would be willing to allot a perkins loan for those who are on the waitlist. I am asking this because yesterday I got a note from CMU that I need to sign a promissory note. They mailing decisions this week. So, just want to know if this is foreshadowing anything. Any replies would be great!

Wait until you get an acceptance to sign ANYTHING.

@thumper1 I don’t have anything to sign yet. It was just displayed in my portal that I would need to do it (just yesterday). So, I was just wondering what this could mean? More leaning towards waitlist (because it is a loan) or more leaning towards acceptance (because it is a limited, special type of loan). I applied to SCS, which has an acceptance rate of 6%. I know decisions come out in a few days but still want to keep my mind busy  I mean would aid officer be willing to allot perkins loan to waitlist students? etc.

It’s not leaning towards anything. Just be patient and wait until you get your acceptance or not from the school.

My guess is yes, the schools would allot perkins loans to the waitlist students

@4kidsdad why do you think so? i mean it is possible but would they make waitlisted people sign a promissory note though?

Agg…why are you fretting over this today? Admission decisions will be out very soon and you will know for SURE.

It is unusual; but nothing would prevent the schools to request completed entrance conseling and / or signed MPN from a student who is not admitted yet
