<p>call the school. You may have qualified for the Perkins but there is a limit (maybe $4000). If the school thought you needed more than that amount, they may have offered you the larger Plus loan or their own private loan. You can ask them to give you the Perkins and a smaller additional loan. That happened to someone I know and the school made the change for them. It's kind of late though, so call right away.</p>
<p>Funds for Perkins loans are limited -- and the school can choose how to distribute them. I have had a $0 EFC several times, and no Perkins loan.</p>
<p>At my school, Perkins loans are given first to parents with dependents under 6 who need childcare. Other schools may reserve them for athletes, out of state students, in-state students, etc. It is up to the school to make the determination.</p>
<p>Some schools don't even get any money for Perkin's loan. The money is very limited. But - yeah go ahead and call, get an explanation.</p>
