Permanent Address in college

I am a junior in college in Ohio about to move into my apartment for junior year. I go to college in the same state that I am from. I live with my mom during winter and summer and I am a dependent on her taxes. What do I use as my permanent address for things like job/tax returns/drivers license etc? Am I supposed to use my new apartment address that I will be living in next 9 months or my parents address? and is this a big deal either way? sorry I just get worried about stuff like this. wanna make sure I have all my paperwork and everything done correctly.

You, as an adult, can choose your permanent address for purposes of driver’s license, voting, taxes, work, etc. Many students find it easier to continue to use a parent’s address as students tend to move a lot and forwarding can be a problem. Are there any benefits to using the new address, like a parking permit, lower taxes for working in the city, free entry into city venues? (probably not, but check)

If you do decide to use your student address as a permanent one, keep a record! If you every want a government job, they’ll ask you for all addresses you’ve lived in since you were 18. Keep a record of the landlord, any neighbor’s names and contact info.

@twoinanddone thank you just making sure I was legally allowed to use my parents address still! Didn’t want to be breaking any laws. I think I will just continue to use my parents since I will be moving into new apartment next year.
