So, I've been a permanent resident of the US for years upon years now, so I assumed that I would NOT be considered as an international applicant in college admissions and the financial aid process. But I've recently read some articles (most recently the NYTimes' The Choice blog post by the Mongolian girl in Colorado) that have got me worrying about my status by implying that all non-U.S. citizens are automatically considered international applicants. Can someone please clear up my confusion? If I were to apply as an international applicant, that would severely cut down any chances of me being able to afford college here... :/

Perm residents and US citizens are bundled together in terms of admission. You could be from Mars – but with that Green Card, you’re golden.

Oh, thank the heavens. I was having a minor panic attack right there since I couldn’t find a straight definition of international applicant.
