Permanent Resident with foreign transcripts

Can I apply for federal financial aid & scholarships for college if I received my whole high school education outside of the US?

Yes as long as you’re green card holder when you file FAFSA

Isn’t there a limit on time a green card holder can be outside the U.S?

Lots of my adult ed students with green cards have asked this question. Yes, you can file the FAFSA if you have completed high school anywhere in the world, or if you complete the GED here. It also is important that you have your foreign high school records formally evaluated by an organization that is recognized by the college/university that you are applying to. I usually recommend that students use http://wes.org/</a> because I have not heard of any college or university that did not accept their evaluations. But please do find out from the places that you will apply to.
