So uh i've been 16 for a couple months now, but never got around to taking the test. I was just wondering, what do I need to knwo for it? Like I know green is go orange slow down red is stop and like basic signs like the stop sign. Is that all I need to know?

Common sense is all you need Seriously, it’s so easy.

But when I took it more than half of my driver’s ed. class failed the permit test :/

its really easy. Don’t get all geeky and study the booklet like a history test. xD
IMO: the hardest parts are like “how many feet can you park from a fire hydrant” or “what is the penalty for driving with a suspended license on you second offense.” Those numeric questions are the ones I didn’t study.

Yes, I did get tested on those dumb questions. I think I got a 21/25 in my state.

lol my state has us take a sign test we need to get a 100% on, then a driving knowledge test which is common sense.

I got a perfect score without studying while those who studied religiously either failed or missed 5 questions.

wut? i got mine the day i turned 16

My state lets you take it online, so I had the book open on my lap. Driving test would have been killer with a car that literally didn’t fit in the cones for the parking spot, so I borrowed a small car.

Anyway, find practice questions and study them. Learn all the signs. All the information is there in the book, and the test isn’t very hard. Mine was preceded by a “drug test”, in which I had to answer “drugs are bad” to 15 or so questions.

LoL, I know people who fail this multiple times, the 2 times that I’ve gone to the DMV, the same person was there and failed again…10 times. I can’t wait for my license in November. I turn 16 in July, but I didn’t do driver’s ed until this year.

Man, I have to find driving school in order to meet my road requirement. Then get about 10 more hours, and wait until November for my license.

how will they know? i was supposed to have 50 hours experience and only recorded like 5

^I did a parent-taught program, and we just lied about my road hours. I didn’t log a single hour of road practice when I got my license: it was all fabricated. Granted, I started driving by myself when I still only had my permit.

me too …it’s not like they’re gonna know unless you’re doing something visibly mischevious .i just wrote random dates and times on my log sheet.

lol “12/30/09- drive 4 hours” …not

In my state (CA) you’re supposed to take driver’s ed from a certified school for 30 hours, get a certificate from that, then take 6 hours of driver’s training and get a certificate from that, then take those two certificates to the DMV in order to take a test. After that, it’s 6 months of parent driving and then you go in for two more hours of an in-car test, and then you get your permit…am I off on this?

^No, in order to obtain a permit you don’t need to possess any driving experience. You solely need to pass a written test. In order to acquire your license though, you are obligated to undergo a certain amount of hours behind the wheel with a driving instructor.

Just know saftey precautions like vehicle spacing, signalling, when to use your brights. Really easy but it might be worded to confuse you.

The only thing I studied were the signs. The rest was pretty easy. You will do fine.

ugh. I don’t want to go through 30 hours of Driver’s Ed.

^It’s not too bad if you take it with a friend during the summer. My friend and I played tic tac toe throughout some of the more gruesome videos.

Ah, what do you mean by gruesome? Do you mean as in bloody and gory and with all those scenes of actual car accidents?

Yes, you will be obligated to watch a number of Red Asphalt videos. The majority are tolerable, but there are a couple of graphic ones that you will have the option to watch.

Well, that’s a discouragement for me, but at least these videos only cover a minimal amount of time of the total class hours.
