Perplexing problem :/

This problem is driving me mad..

I just put each function in my graphing calculator, then pressed ZOOM 6 to get it in a standard window. Zoom in if you want using ZBox. Then use the cursor to see that the point is (5,6). So the answer is 5+6=11, choice (C).

what if i don’t use a graphing calc?

Here’s another way. Note that the minimum value of f occurs at x = -b/(2a) = 10/2 = 5. Then compute f(5) = 5 and g(5) = 7. So the point we are looking for is (5,6), and the answer is 5+6=11, choice (C).

ahaaaa. yeah makes sense :D

^ can someone explain derivatives, so I can solve this?
