Yes, that is exactly how you get to it .... by clicking on the link. I believe this must be based on test scores. My S. made one inquiry to the school some time ago. Our thoughts have gone in different directions since then.

-----for those that received a personal app, any idea how/why? great test scores (psat or SAT)? demonstrated interest-----

I visited, but I also think my test scores played a role (32 / 1410) but who knows. hooray!

to make sure im reading this right...do you even need a recommendation?

I also got an admission reception invitation...anyone else get that?

Yes, my S. also had an invitation. Judging from the timing of the materials, I think they were generated by his ACT score (a 32).

My D got her app yesterday. Most recent SATs were May, so don't think timing was at play here.

received an invite to last year's reception, which had to be based on PSAT scores taken Soph yr, since Son's first real test date was March '05.

weird cuz i bombed the PSAT

Pretty sure it was PSAT score that prompted the personal app sent to son, He also attended a local info session, but I think the personal app came before that.

My bro got one. I think he sent his scores there and went to an open house.

Hmm, does anyone know if it's 4 weeks after they get your application, 4 weeks after they receive all the materials or 4 weeks after Nov. 1 (the deadline) when they notify you for EA on this "Personal App". I just applied, and was curious.

i share the same confusion

^ Heh, anyone have a clue to my question?

last year, it was 4 weeks after all material arrived, essentially rolling personal app admissions. But, with the team hunkered down in Richmond, processing this year......

My S used the personal app and recieved a nice merit award but be warned there was not a 4 week turn around time as promised for anyone. That was for the class of 08. It was closer to 7 or 8 weeks but was worth waiting for as they are generous. With Katrina I would be surprised if it was 4 weeks but I don't know if last year was better then my sons year. Still worth it.

Well, this is the message I got from them: Basically, after the Nov. 1st deadline for EA, assuming all of my materials are in, they will respond WITHIN four weeks, so, should have decisions by around Turkey Day!

I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of whether or not the admissions standards are going to be the same as in years past. I got the personal app and was planning on applying to Tulane pre-Katrina and I'm not really sure how to go about this. See my stats are low for Tulane...SAT 600V 570M and 650W and about a 90/100 gpa from New York with average Extra curriculars. Now I have to decide wheter or not to use the personal app. On one hand it is much easier and quicker. But I am worried that perhaps because of Katrina damage they won't be able to house alot of freshmen and then the addmission standards will be very high and in this case it may be better that I wait and use a normal app with an essay, personal statement, ect since it doesn't seem like these will be given much weigh even if included with the personal app. Maybe I'm thinking into it too much, but if anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it.

^ Why would the admissions standards be higher, less of the competitive applicants will probably be deterred by the devastation.

Well I was thinking if dorms and other buildings are damaged maybe they won't accept as many freshmen because they won't have room for them. I don't know much about the damage done I was just posting this to see if anyone had any idea about what's going on.

from the pictures and such...Tulane seems really dry. The campus, itself, wasnt harmed very much at all...all i could see from the pics were fallen trees, a thin film of muck on the floors, and some blown out windows.

We Tulane parents are in touch with Tulane quite often and have been told thus (and have seen photos also): Dormitory damage is very minimal. So I don't expect any reduction in dorm space. Only the very few rooms on some ground floors were harmed at all (dorms such as the one my S is in don't even have any rooms on the ground floor, just common space).

The standards for admission will not be lowered. xx13xx, I don't know what this would mean for your case. Do you know why you received the personal app? Isn't your receiving it a sign that they think you are a good candidate? Does anyone know the stats on acceptances from personal app recipients. I don't have that info and don't think I could find it now, since only the emergency site is up and running.

That emergency site is full of info and photos which might help/interest you, http://www.tulane.edu/
