Personal Application

So in the past two weeks I've gotten two "personal applications" from some schools, albeit they're not amazing there still top 50, top 40. Anyways they say that iv been selected, dont need to write an essay, dont need to pay the app fee, automatically entered for all scholarships, and i get a decision in four weeks. It seems like one of those things you get in the mail all the time yet I was already kind of considering one of the schools and it seems like Icould get some money from there. It's just kinda wierd because Id never heard of this... Anybody know whats up?

It's not unheard-of for universities to have some kind of "VIP" application for students that they really want to attract. It's an easy way for them to get students that they know are good to apply, and possibly consider a school that they normally would not have looked at. And if they've sent you one of these apps, it means you've got an excellent shot at merit aid, since you're probably at the top of their applicant pool. Go for it.

which schools??

There are several out there - Tulane and RPI come to mind right away. If you have demonstrated interest to a school (could be a visit/interview, could be as little as being on their mailing list), then they may send you instructions for their (insert catchy name) expedited application.

lol i want to go to RPI, hope they send me one of those =D

yea it was Tulane and RPI. All i did was respond to some email they sent me RootBeer, and i don't really think my stats are amazing, so you prob. will. If not, just contact them good luck though.

lol thanks

yeah i got the Tulane Personal email yesterday...relly weird because yesterday I was just thinking about applying there except I didnt want to pay....SCORE!

well if you apply online with the common app, you don't have to pay either. i also got the email from tulane--should i do that instead of send them the common app (they have no supplement anyway)
