How important is it when a school sends you links to apply using their personal application?

I'm guessing that this type of college recruiting is pretty new as my siblings never saw these during their application processes.

have a lot of people received these emails?

...I've received a few emails from Emory in which they have extended their deadline for me to use their personal application and waived the fee...

unless you have some hook which was the reason they singled you out, it probably wont make much of a difference. If you were targeted because you're NMSF, or some other award type of thing than it might help them to simply greenlight your application.

yea i dunno...the minority status might have something to do with it- I was just wondering if it's the school's form of a likely letter or something. On the other hand, they might just need more minorities

The special application is just a marketing tool sent to all who have expressed previous interest in Emory. I spoke to my admission rep and he said it made no difference at all whether you submitted the Commonapp or Emory app. They just prefer online to paper app.
