Personal contact from regional admissions (state uni)...a good thing?

Hey.

Today I got an email from a WVU regional admissions counselor asking me to set up a 1-on-1 phone call with them. I’m an in-state student, and I’m not exactly sure whether it’s a positive sign or just a thing they send out to most in-state students.

Anyone have any information about this sort of contact?

My son was admitted to WVU this year into their Engineering program. He also received emails and phone calls to setup 1:1 time with an admissions counselor. I would look at it as a good thing and if you are serious about WVU definitely take them up on their offer. He ultimately decided to pursue a different university, but hands down WVU had the best marketing, outreach and networking engagement than any of the other schools he applied to.
