personal financial aid question at dartmouth

so if any1 else has experienced the same thing, let me know

i have received financial aid packages from both dartmouth and northwestern. from my past experiences, i have heard that northwestern is much more stingy with money while, as an ivy league school that meets 100% of demonstrated need, dartmouth would give more money.

however, after i received packages from both schools, i am currently getting 30% more money from northwestern than dartmouth, which is a pretty significant amount...

is there any way to have dartmouth match the money i get at northwestern or any other school? i mean this disparity doesnt really make any sense to me...

fill out the form and request for a financial review

That’s funny, Dartmouth gave me FAR more money than NW…maybe fin aid decisions are even more random than admissions decisions (that of course is a scary thought that wouldn’t make any sense!)

6 years ago, in the same position as OP, we requested a review - turns out that we incorrectly characterized an asset as the student’s rather than the parents’ on the College Profile Can’t promise a good result, but D, after reviewing, advised us of our error on the form and offered a revised package that bested NW’s. For our student, D was a clear first choice - if it is for you, make that known as well.

really?! thats so weird!!

if i am given enough money i would attend dartmouth for sure :)

it’s interesting that northwestern gave you guys both less money than dartmouth. northwestern is giving me significantly more money. perhaps dartmouth made a mistake

should i contact the financial aid office? if so, what should i say??

At least you got something. I got absolutely nothing.
