Personal Insight for Careers in Management Information Systems

Apparently most people are interested in either Finance, Accounting, or MIS. I am one of them. I haven't fully read the "Everything you wanted to know or should know about accounting" post by TaxGuy but I am on page 25 (very interesting stuff)..Anyways, I was wondering how does MIS compare to (Accounting or Finance) in terms of job opportunities, security, and job placement/salary and rank/ladder.

I will be attending McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas @ Austin as an incoming sophomore this fall with 32 credit hours & a 3.9 GPA earned at a local community college before transferring. Now lemme just go ahead and mention the fact but I don't TaxGuy or any of his fellows getting mad @ me. Lately, I was reading on the McCombs website that it was ranked first both in Undergrads & Grad school (i forgot the source but just the fact alone surprised me for the moment, if not for long). But again, does coming highly ranked among other schools in the U.S not even worth a bit to top recruiters.

Although McCombs doesn't offer a combined Accounting + MIS major aside from minoring in MIS (which is highly recommend by many if majoring in accounting) as far as I know, but how much do you guys know about AIS (Accounting Information Systems)? I picked up a book about AIS at my local community college and kept reading (interesting models & stuff).

Supplement info: I am considered a minority although a U.S citizen for more than 10 years (no arguments but slight overlooked discrimination still exists at lower level..at least at this teen age & point in life.). My plans are to "major in Accounting and do a minor in MIS" or a" Major in Finance with a minor in Accounting." I am seriously considering an MBA after 3-5 years of bachelors unless I take TaxGuy's advice and rather go for a CPA. Please don't label me as greedy, but I would do anything to work my way up to six-figure asap to have a chance to pay off, at the least, the people that have a hand in my on-going success.

In summary, I am asking for comparison of MIS & AIS to Finance & Accounting and perhaps some of the other business fields. Please excuse my grammar since I'll have a lot of time to practice that this coming fall (yay!) and try to make this thread as General as Possible so all others can also benefit who are looking for a Career in MIS.
