Hey! Did anyone else get a personal letter from Georgetown today? Mine talked about my involvement in crew... I thought it was very sweet and I was wondering if anyone else got one =)

HOYA SAXA!!

Hey! Did anyone else get a personal letter from Georgetown today? Mine talked about my involvement in crew... I thought it was very sweet and I was wondering if anyone else got one =)

HOYA SAXA!!

I got one today too!! I thought it was so nice! They keep sending things like this (i.e. the Christmas Card), it definitely shows how after we spent forever trying to get them to accept us, they're trying to do the same now! Mine talked about my involvement in field hockey. I've definitely never heard of a school doing as many personal things as georgetown.

yeah, mine talked about swimming. this is great haha. do you think they have a generic crew/field hockey/swimming/etc. paragraph that they just stick in or what? it's still cool though.
another perk of being 1 in 1000.

it probably is generic.. but it still is pretty nice =)

was yours about being a student athlete, etc?

yeah and it was like you fit into our motto of "latin phrase---i think something like sound mind/ sound body but i don't speak latin". whatever, it's still cool.

^
mine was about Student Government

same here about cross country

same thing with the student athlete/latin phrase---even if its more generic, it seems like a lot more than my friends' ea/ed schools have been doing!

mine was about community service. i know i may be generic, but still. i love gtown!

i got one too

yup - model un!

mine was about social justice. it made me happy even if there were just a few different variations. That still is a fairly personalized letter to more than 1000 kids. I was impressed.

yeah mine was about visiting DC and doing programs down there (Presidential Classroom)

Huh...mine didn't say anything personal in it. Just about how our class will become the men and women we're called to be or something.

Georgetown messed up. </3

Mine was about my "vocal talents." I quit chorus in 7th grade (since 4th grade), but I didn't, nor did anyone else, mention this on my app. I wrote my short EC essay about band, and my resume included several band (and even orchestra) related achievements, but nothing vocal. There might be an amazing vocalist out there wondering why Georgetown is trying to solicit him/her into their band/other instrumental groups right now. Or maybe there's a vocalist out there whose app got mixed up with mine, and now they're home wondering why Gtown slapped them on the face with a deferral letter.

Disappointed.

That or they probably just have a default letter for each activity that they change only a little for each person.

Mine was about football, but you could replace "football" with any other activity and it would make sense.

ie __________ shows you have dedication and determination. You can learn many things about a liberal arts education while taking part in ___________.

me too! mine talked about my participation in mock trial, and how their MT team is pretty solid. also mentioned internships on capitol hill, which i wrote about in my essay, and its law program.

So did anybody who was accepted EA not receive a letter?

So did anyone else get a wrong letter?

They got their sources from our short essays, right?

And should I be worried that they sent me a wrong letter for my unapparent "vocal talents"?

Mine talked about community service and social justice. I was impressed.
