I’ve encountered this question from a few colleges, and I’m not sure how to talk about it? I was thinking about writing about how I really like foreign languages (I’ve taken Spanish and Latin, I speak Chinese at home, etc.) but I feel like that’s not a perspective? Is there a way to write that without sounding like the cheesiest biscuit ever?
Cheesy is okay in this question. In addition to your academic skills, you can talk about personality traits you bring, and it is a chance to mention ECs you would like to participate in.
I feel like personally what I bring to a community could easily be brought by someone else though =/
One of my kids got stumped on that one. Silly as it sounds, I asked her, “How do you envision yourself on that campus, in that community?” (The part about getting along and getting involved, not so much about classes you plan to take.) Then, for her, it all poured out.
The keyword really is “community,” not how you are unique.
