Hello. Im applying to IU early action. Should I write personal statement essay? On the website it says “If you are applying through the Common Application, you’ll need to submit the Writing Supplement for IU Bloomington (this is the essay described above). You are not required to complete and submit the standard Common Application essay prompts; these additional essays will not be considered in the admission process.” Does that mean there is no point in doing the personal statement?
interested in this as well
I don’t know what the input setup looks like for the IU common app questions. We applied directly through apply Iu. But if there is no separate space for the personal statement, I would just enter it in the essay space for this submission only. Is that what you are asking?
My DS used the common app and read it as though the common app personal statement was unnecessary (ie, only do the IU questions). He was admitted into IU, Hutton and Kelley without the personal statement.
@DadOf2020Grad my S applied through common app and he did not get any email back from the school. Did you get a confirmation? He is applying Jacobs school of music. I think he did write an extra essay since he is applying to dual major.
Yes, my S received a confirmation email within a couple of days of submitting the application. It gave him credentials to set up an IU computing account, which gives application status.
He applied couple of days ago and last nigh he got an email saying “we received your application”, but nothing else. So weird. All the other schools emailed us with some kind of information and access to application status. I guess we will wait and see.
@Doransa I feel like I should mention that if your child is in state, and happens to be taking a dual credit class through IU, they are likely to already have an account setup and student ID assigned. You won’t have to do anything. They will merge your application account with that and you’ll log into one.iu using that dual credit account to check status.
@Momofmanytoo thank you. We are out of state. I guess it is a bit different for us. Thanks.
@Momofmanytoo and @DadOf2020Grad he just got a confirmation and his application status is "
Thank you for submitting your application materials; your application is complete. Please consult our Deadlines" I guess now we wait. Thank you
