Personal statement for Transfers to UC

After you answer the 3 general questions, Haas will around notify you around Feb. via email, and ask you to respond to one of those 2 questions, the "Old Navy" one or the "the potential to contribute" one. I'm pretty sure the "Old Navy" one will be replaced with a different one, but the "potential to contribute" was there in '06 and '07.

I know it's a long shot but let me share with all you my academic records.

I'm currently pulling a 3.62 GPA~ and I'm applying to HAAS this fall for Fall 2008. The problem is I'm not done with my GE's/prereq's but I will be done by Spring 2008. Will that cause a problem?

In addition I'm currently in the U.S. ARMY RESERVE, I was in JROTC( in High school for four years), I've been doing private Chinese tutoring for children, I did work at Walgreen's as a service manger and at an insurance agency. I'm also working at a restaurant as a assistant manager/accountant and at a car parts distribution firm currently.

that seems very strange that they would use actual business names...

im already done w/ my personal statement yey!

:O !!

what?!

thats ridiculous. talk about focused hah

Motul: I'm a veteran myself, and I don't believe it gave me an advantage in the admissions process to Haas. Your 3.62 GPA is something I can't comment on. However, not to discourage you, but a classmate of mine who is a fobby Asian girl, who had a 4.0 and took a more rigorous academic load than me got rejected. All UC schools require that you complete prerequisites and GE the Spring semester prior; so yeah, as long as you complete these classes you should be OK. As for your work experience, you should state it in a business perspective on your work experience/extracurricular page. In other words, sell yourself. Who knows, you might get accepted to the prestigious Haas? Good Luck dude.

b boy, so I'm assuming you got accepted into HAAS? What was your GPA when applying?

Crazy, they haven't changed the prompt in ages.

motul,
your EC & pre-reqs are fine, however the 3.6 GPA is going to be an issue considering how highly impacted your major is. Try to bring that GPA up these next two semesters

I did not get accepted to Haas, as I aforementioned. I got rejected twice, for '06 and '07. I should've moved on in '06 and went to USC's Marshall. An undergrad business education isn't as special as some think. I'm not saying that an undergrad business education is futile. The average undergrad business graduate makes around $50-$60K a year. Research this on Businessweek online, in their undergrad forums; look at the school rankings and click on alumni affairs. Even people who graduate from the highly prestigious Wharton make that much off the bat. I personally know people who went to less prominent CSU schools and make just as much or even more money than people who went to the more "elite" schools. In the end it's all about how much money you make right? That's why your interest is business, capitalism right??

My GPA was 3.76, and I followed all of Haas' prereq's and GE's. My classmate's GPA was 4.0, but even she got rejected. An acquaintance of mine, who had a 4.0, followed the prerequisites, and did a lot of accounting internships got accepted. He was the only one that I know of that got into Haas.

hey

im applying to haas this fall. I almost have all of my pre req's/GE's done. I have a 4.0 at my junior college and I am also an assistant for an accountant at an engineering company. I also do engineering work at the company like use autocad and do topographic surveying. I'm a member of the student govt at my jr college, the treasure of a club, a member of phi theta kappa, a tutor, I worked for nike to learn customer service and also play on a basketball team.

do u think i have a shot at haas?

i knew this one kid who had a 3.82 and worked for his dad and got in a couple years ago.

jordan that has to be a joke.

no im not kidding. I actually do have a 4.0 and do all that stuff. Im a huge MJ fan so i just used Jordan23.

and the kid that got in with a 3.8 is true also

well, you have a good shot. admissions can be a little random though.

damn it! it sux that essay question has changed for fall 08 applicants...
I did mine for 07 essay questions... i guess i hav to re-write my personal statement...

what torrance? dont you just throw out the one of your three essays? the first two questions are still the same aren't they

oh! NVM.... I thought it changed.... Just #3 question is gone....

i wonder why they knocked #3 out.

they probably thought too many applicants BS sad stories to make admissions tear and let them in
ahaha... there goes "a good chance" for me to get in.

yeah but hold up folks. i'm writing a pamphlet on applying to UC and there 3rd question is still there....once again, i'm confused

are you guys positive the open ended third question is knocked out?????
