I wrote my Common App personal statement about two months ago and I’m questioning it. As it is right now, it’s about the effect that doing physics research had on me: seeing past the boring tasks of a lab and being amazed by the real down and dirt science behind them and then noticing and thinking about physics in everyday life because of that.
I think it’s a fine essay and I made an effort to add details and comments that show my personality but I’m worried that it’s not personal enough. Just imagining how many kids are writing about their experience in research for their common app scares me. I know I shouldn’t write about something just because it’s impressive and I wasn’t trying to show off or anything with the essay but I honestly couldn’t think of anything else. And physics is definitely important to me but I’m not sure if the subject is personal/interesting/memorable enough.
I’m not asking CC for a replacement topic but is writing about this too blah?
Thanks!
