<p>try shortening it to 1020, I dont know whats really the word limit, but i would stick close to 1013, as the UCs uses that as an example
I suggest changing passive sentences into active one. Active is always better.
Look at if you can reword the sentences.</p>

when someone i know called the admission office at ucla, the person said up to 1050 is alright.
but if they think your essay looks long, they can do a word check and cut off the excessive last chunk or something and then read it.</p>
