so basically i want to say how i switched from diffrent education system and language, and how i overcame some difficulties...etc
is it ok?
and any suggestion? caz i don't know how to make this special..unique and really personal :( im worried if its too cliche!!
thanxxx

no, it's not too cliche. colleges will always be interested to hear about your experiences. i think the best essay topics are always about what you consider most important in your life, something that you can write interestingly and sincerely about.

to make your essay "unique and really personal", you should write it in your own style, in your own voice, i.e. don't try to be all funny if you're not, don't try too hard to make it seem profound by dropping SAT vocab words here and there 'cause it'll just sound contrived. honestly, i think a lot of international students fall prey to this.. better use relatively simple language and be sincere, rather than attempting to impress admissions officers with high-level language but having it fall flat in the end.

i'm an international student too; i spent the last four years studying away from home, and that was sort of the theme for my common app essay.

would you mind pm me ur personal statement since you don't need it anymore?
(:
thanks!!!
