<p>How many of us transfers have yet to even attempt to write our P.S? </p>
<p>I'm just having difficulty answering the first part, as I have done no leadership, not much in my interested major etc. </p>

<p>same here, i havent start my ps yet, so lazy with school work + personal issues. I think i will just write an average ps. probably 6/10…</p>
<p>What schools are you applying to? I’d think a barely passable P.S would be okay for the lower tiered UC’s (possibly even UCSD if you tagged) but UCLA and CAL? Hmm…</p>
<p>Not to mention a CAL representative at my CC the other day essentially told me that a 3.9 was nothing special and not to expect admission if I don’t have a lot of volunteer work/ leadership etc. etc. :(</p>
<p>^ if it is for HAAS then the CAL rep has a good point. I mean people with 4.0 were rejected from HAAS, so I would recommend if your applying to HAAS to bolster your volunteer work (especially in the business sector, ie banks, local companies, even interning).</p>

I noticed that in past threads you mentioned that you’re a history major. You’ll probably be fine with a 3.9 as long as your essays are ok.</p>

<p>I’d definitely write one, but you can just send one that you’ve only wrote 1 draft of, or go write it on the spot, you know? UCD doesn’t look at personal statement much when deciding either. they look at your academics.</p>
<p>I definitely put effort in my PS’s when I was applying from high school, but now I’m not stressin’ (about the essays, that is…Tuesday morning when I step into my classroom for my stats exam…well, might be a different story then.)</p>

<p>The purpose of the personal statement is mostly to introduce yourself to the evaluator, and to convince them that you are a real person. I don’t think what you write is much of a game-changer, as your grades still speak the loudest on your application.</p>

<p>I thought i would highlight something positive, but my academics aren’t that stellar so perhaps the essay should be more about disability? Can a strong personal essay for UCSB/UCD truly make a difference if they are lacking in other areas?</p>
<p>Because if UC is simply going to trash my writing I will just write a 200 word summary of experience.</p>

<p>Talked to a counselor the other day, and she said to put a sentence that asked the reader to give us a spot in their university. So for ie: I’d really appreciate it if you could accept me into your prestigious university. Is this even right? It’s not answering the prompt and sounds a bit desperate. Is this a no-no?</p>
