Hello,

I'm sure many of you have received "specialized applications" from schools that have waived your application fee and doesn't require a formal essay or teacher recommendations. All they require is a personal statement.

So what's the difference between a formal essay and a personal statement?

Is the previous longer, and the ladder shorter?
I've searched the internet and CC for this but it seems like the two are one and the same. But if the school specifically said "no formal essay required", then there should be some differences, right?

Yes, please, would love some input from this as well.

Get all excited about the “no essay required” applications, only to find that you do have to write something.

Now, really, you don’t want to do a sloppy job, as it is an application, and one they will use to award merit scholarships, but do you want to do your “big essay” which might better be saved for a special scholarship application?

Would love to hear from anyone about how they’re handling these “personal statements”, “no formal essay” applications.

i think they are the same thing .

Normally, yes.
But these “personalized applications” specifically said “no formal essay required”, but wants a personal statement.

Aiya I’m so confused! @.@
