Hi
is there a way of maximising the number of words i can paste into the essay field, like an alternative way to using line returns to indicate a new paragraph? I’m using microsoft word; are there any better applications to use? I’m quite desperate for alternative ways as I’m having a headache trying to reduce my word count. Thanks!

Wait, you can only put a certain number into the online application?

Yes, there's a limit. unlike common app, the excess won't be cut off, but they still may not be able to see what's beyond the limit. that's why i'm looking for ways to maximise the number of words allowed within the limit.

For my Brown application, I was able to put 750+ words within the space provided, which was the entire 2 pages. Write the words small. I first typed my essay; then I wrote it in.

why did you write it in after you typed it?

grammar and editting would be a lot easier than rewriting it all the time i assume

USE NOTEPAD... less line returns, or you could do the btter thing and just MAIL the app... you dont have any less of a chance getting in, and they dont have to waste thier paper printing it out... meaning one more point for you. it is all baout consideration

You can just print it out and atach it, mine was like 950+ words... and they accepted me, but make sure you dont have an essay that DRAGS

are all of you only referring to question 6: 'in reading your application...ideas interest you most'? how about question 1: 'tell us...applying to Brown.'? I thought the personal statement included question 1 as well.

crumflake, I tried to use notepad, but the number of characters indicated by Brown's system was still the same. How did you do it? I don't think I can mail the paper application; I don't want to risk my application getting lost in the mail (I'm an international) and it's probably too late to ask Brown to send an application over...

psalm... you can prin out the app online, from their website, and then just mail it

crumflake, did you also attach your printed response to question 1? approximately how long was your response?
