Personality etc

Here's the deal. I visited Georgetown a few weeks ago, and for the most part, I really liked what I saw. The campus was beautiful, the academics are obvi great, and the guide seemed very nice.
The only issue I had was my small sampling of the students. I truly don't wish to offend anyone here, so please read this with an open mind, but from the few students I saw/talked to, some gave me a not so good impression. Almost all the girls i heard talking (probably only 5 or 6 total), they all seemed extremely ditzy and even catty. Again I realize this is just a few people I stumbled upon, but I want a little conformation that this isn't what Georgetown's general population is like!
Also, From the impression I got visiting and from other threads on the subject, it seemed most people there were pretty rich. This isn't a problem, or rather it would only be a problem if there is any discrimination or separation between classes. I'm not trying to presume this, I just want to check that there is no separation of classes or looking down on certain people.
I realize there are other threads with general ideas like these but I didn't find one answering my q's directly. So thanks for reading+replying!

Did these 5 or 6 people know each other. In other words, were they friends?

Yeah I think they were in two different groups or something. But they were talking this way among themselves if that’s what you mean.

Well…if they were in groups, then you can’t consider the 5 or 6 people you met as 5 or 6 independently sampled people. Ditzy people hang out with ditzy people, if you know what I’m saying.

Also…so far as whether G’town has the spacy/light-headed type, of course it does. But so does every college. I can tell you that the reason I chose G’town was because it didn’t have frats. In my opinion, that made a HUGE difference (for the better) in the social scene.

So you would say the general population of ladies are not like this? as in catty, ditzy… I don’t want to go to a college that has a repeat of high school drama is basically what I’m aiming for here.

Correct…I would say the general population of G’town ladies are not like that. But don’t get me wrong. They do exist. The great thing about G’town, though, is that it’s big enough so that it’s not hard to find the intellectual type (if that’s what you want).

If you visited a few weeks ago, are you sure this group of students were even undergrads? Lots of students from other schools take summer courses here, and high schoolers enroll in on-campus programs as well.

these are your future politicians and lawyers… of course they’re catty and arrogant!

Actually it must have been more than a few weeks ago…school was definitely in session still, before exams I think. Thanks for all the replies, however varied, I’ll just resign myself to that fact that you will find people like this at every school!

you might have a very legitimate observation actually. I found that to be the case on my visit too. I’m sure that there are enough hardcore intellectuals on campus but the people who were doing the GAAP did not elicit any strong sense of reverence from me.

If it helps, when I went on my GAAP (I’ll be in MSB) the students I encountered ranged from “normal” to “very friendly;” this goes for regular students as well as tour guides, etc. I even heard people talking about things that I liked as I walked by (in this case, Saturday Night Live) so I felt pretty comfortable.
