Personalized Letter??

Hi. I've just got a question for you all. Did anybody get a personalized letter in the mail in the past couple of days?

Today I got a letter from a Valerie Demong (asst director of admin). It basically said that she is there to answer any questions.

At the bottom though, she wrote alot of personalized stuff. She listed off like all the people from my H.S. who currently attend middlebury. She was all like "yeah i just talked to name and he loves it... so does name"

And then she wrote a P.S.
"I heard you are considering taking a gap year after high school--we support that whole-heartedly! I'd love to hear more (my daughter did it)."

I got one of those letters yesterday. Had a written in "congratulations name!"

So stop thinking you're so special.

Just kidding.

Son also got one.
...As the admissions representative in the office...I had the pleasure of representing your candidacy...

Yeah I got one too.

Aw... not me... Guess I'm not as super-spectacular as you guys...

Just kidding. Is that what you wanted to hear?

kwu, it is not.
My post was a way of showing interest in Middlebury: it is a totally new world to me.

I got one of those, but it got my gender wrong. -_-

I think it's standard, but obviously the personalization thing is not...but that might also depend on the person who read your app. For some it might be fairly standard to write somethign extra, others rarely do it.

I got the same letter. The admissions rep that represented me wrote that "it would be great to be the first grad from [my high school] to attend Middlebury" and that she was still the only grad from her high school, which is near mine.

I don't really care that everyone got one - it's still nice to be wanted and for them to make an effort to reach out like that.

has anyone been getting phone calls from current students as well as professors at Midd? They sound so tired when they call! I don't think a phone call changes anyone's opinions. :/

HA!
I got the same letter as ccfaithful.
Calls from a really shy student.

Why are Midd kids so soft-spoken? :/
