Hiya,
I was accepted RD last week, and today I got a (typed) letter in the mail from my regional admissions rep (who is the assistant dean of admissions); at the bottom was a few-sentence-long note from the assistant dean that was complimentary and personalized.
I’m wondering if anyone else has received such a note. I feel hyper-susceptible; this note is making me feel so much warmer toward the school! Petty, perhaps, but the wooing is working. My mom is an alumna, so I wonder if that has something to do with it?
Thanks in advance!
I received a personal note from my regional admissions rep, too! No family ties to the college.
Marketing tactic and ego stroke to get you to convert your acceptance into a commitment. Nice touch, though. Congrats on the acceptances!
I also had a hand-written note, and it’s definitely working on me.
Middlebury is a small school and one of the advantages of a school like this is that they take the time to compose their incoming class. The people they admit each year are those they really want to attend. It’s important to them that the student they chose so thoughtfully to accept, chooses to attend. The note is intended to reflect that. So while it may qualify as marketing, it doesn’t reduce the sincerity of the note.
I got a note too! I enrolled a few days ago, but it really made me feel like I made the right choice!
I’m curious, what did yours say? @fsscafssca @schoolgirl96 @peachesski
I got a personal note too. I’ve also gotten some from other colleges I’ve been accepted too. It makes me feel super awesome when I read them, but I know they all just do it for marketing. So, I’m trying to pick schools based on how I feel when I visit them/what they offer academically for me, rather than just because they sent me an extra nice note.
