Personalized Study Program

Some schools call it an interdisciplinary major, but this is basically a create-your-own major program for students who want to study several areas. I am going to create a major entitled "Global Health" that combines not only the premed requirements (i.e. chem, bio, physics, etc.) but also psychology, sociology, language, and world issues courses (like international studies or issues of thte contemporary world). This is because I want to work to solve the widespread health problems in third world countries.

However, my advisor told me that medical schools look down on majoring in something that has not already been created by the university. Obviously I'm going to contact specific medical schools to see their reaction, but does anyone else have knowledge of this? If I double-majored in Spanish and my interdisciplinary Global Health, would that look better? I'm going to major in this no matter what, but I would like to know what I can do to support my case in med school admissions.

Which university or college are you attending?

The Ohio State University! I don't see why that makes a difference, though.
