Perspectives on Pomona (POP) Results Out!

Hi all,
Results are out for this fly-in program! Sadly rejected and no fee waiver, but that’s ok

I’ve been checking my email every day for the past five days and somehow I got in! My gpa is far lower than most students that applied so I guess my writing helped me

Congrats Picolisimo! Hope you enjoy it

Did anyone else not get in but was told that they would be invited to participate in the Spring POP for Admitted Students if admitted? I was not given a fee waiver.

I got the same message larrylemon0531. My exact email message was this:

The Perspectives on Pomona (POP) committee has completed its evaluation of this year’s applications. Because of the large number of applications and the small size of our community, we are able to offer only a limited number of invitations for POP. Unfortunately, we are unable to extend you an offer to participate in POP this fall.

This decision is not a reflection on your academic abilities or your chances of admission to Pomona College. In fact, each year students we were unable to invite to POP who later applied for admission have been accepted to Pomona. We hope that you’ll continue to stay in touch and learn more about us. We are always here to answer your questions!

Here are just a few ways to stay in touch:

-Local (or distant) students can schedule an Overnight Visit. While on campus you are welcome to attend an information session and take a tour, stay overnight with a current Pomona student, eat in the dining halls or attend classes of interest.

-Should you apply to Pomona College (which we certainly hope you will do!) and be admitted, you will be offered an invitation to take part in Spring POP, an all-expenses paid spring visit program for underrepresented admitted students.

-Admissions staff and Pomona students will be hosting an Applying to Pomona Webinar on Tuesday, September 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. PDT. Log in the day of the webinar to ask questions or listen to the conversation.
We appreciate the time, care and effort you put into your POP application and wish you an exciting and productive finish to your high school career. Please feel free to email us or call (909-607-3028) and ask to speak to a member of the Access Team with any concerns.

Just to confirm a couple of things in that email… Someone I talked to who was at last year’s POP said he heard that the POP accept rate was similar to the overall accept rate (so under 10%). And, a few years ago my kid was one of those who did not get into POP but was admitted to Pomona.

Was anyone else waitlisted? And, if anyone knows, is it likely to get off the waitlist?

I got in! I was really shocked though. My stats are okay, but I’m sure not on par with Pomona students (3.8 gpa, 31 act). My essay was about getting out of depression by researching flowers in my backyard.
