PetE Master's Admissions

I wanted to get some feedback on my chances of getting into several PE programs:

Top Choices:
Texas
Stanford

Safeties:
Penn State
Texas Tech

Background:
US not international
GPA - 3.27 Mech Eng Ohio State (partied a lot, severely underachieved out of that phase now)
Work Experience - 4 yrs
LOR - Would be all from work contacts and none from profs
GRE - 780 Q / 580 V
Research - 0, but decent work stuff I could explain

How selective are the PE masters programs? Doing my research it seems like they might not be nearly as selective as a typical Mech Eng program, etc, thoughts?

I've considered getting an MBA but would really prefer to stay in a technical degree, especially with the money that PE's can pull down.

Also, any insight on how beneficial years of work experience on a grad school application is would be nice.

From stats I seen, 3.5 is about what is needed from top schools. So your GPA is a little low but GRE scores do help. And I assume work experience would just depend on what did you actually do.

Anyone have any suggestions on schools to attend with my gpa, etc?

I would still apply to UT-austin and see what happens. I would pretty much apply to any school in Texas and other oil mining states with a decent rep and the major you are looking for.
