Petition for Hutton Honors

Do you know anyone who sucessfully petitioned into Hutton Honors College?

Since I need a 3.0 to keep my scholarship and a 3.0 to stay in Kelley it seems to makes sense to apply for Honors and live/work with people who are more studious. Without the honors scholarship I'd need a 3.0 to stay in the Honors program. Notice a pattern?

Any input about how hard the Honors courses are and how the Honors program office looks at petitions from people who didn' t get invited? How many people are in IU Honors/year?

Here's a website that gives the info on who gets into Hutton without petitioning, plus how petitions are reviewed. I don't know anyone who petitioned to get in.

<a href="http://www.indiana.edu/%7Eiubhonor/hds/admissions.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.indiana.edu/~iubhonor/hds/admissions.php</a></p>

Note that if you are already at IU you will need a 3.6 GPA to get in, which is why my son with his 3.52 GPA is not (yet) eligible to apply. You then need to maintain a 3.4 GPA to maintain a scholarship, a 3.0 GPA to stay in the program, and a 3.5 GPA (and take a certain number of honors courses) if you want the "honors" designation to appear on your diploma.

Strangely enough, that means you could have a 3.5 GPA all the way through school, but never qualify to even get into the program

Thanks Calcruzer. I'm going to try. If they say "No", I've only lost the price of a stamp.

I'm going to be petitioning as well. Let me know how the process goes for you.

If you got a Selective Scholarship Application, does that mean that you were asked to apply to the Hutton Honors Program? It said on the website that the application serves as a scholarship application as well as the application for the program but I'm not sure.

naturefreak, that is what it means.

sorry, hit submit prematurely. On my daughter's application, or on the letter that came with it, it says specifically that it will be used for Hutton and for certain merit scholarships.

I was offered to apply for the Hutton Honors College Scholarship. Does anyone know how much money they grant per year? Does it matter if you are out-of-state? Thanks.
