How practical/effective do you think it would it be if to start a petition in support of offering healthier foods in the school cafeteria? What kind of things would I have to factor into my effort, and do you think it's an idea I should go ahead with? I mean, I don't want to get myself caught into any mess.. I'd really like to bring about change within my school.

Does anyone know/think they know? Any advice at all?

That's funny. I was almost suspended in 7th grade for a petition because schools take away your rights. First amendment! I can do a petition! No.

It might be effective, but you'll need to look beyond your principal. You'll need to bring it up with the school board, at least I did with my petition.

That's terrible. What kind of petition was it?

Me, or INVENIAMVIAM?

If you're asking me, it was a petition signed by 300 kids at my school to ban our teachers from offering extra credit that required a monetary donation (in any form, and regardless whom it was for) or wasn't available to students during school hours or at home.

Yeah, that's something I was thinking about...

Omg, I check "Quote message in reply" and it doesn't work. Actually it was in response to INVENIAMVIAM but thanks.

:-/ sorry about that.

sqdwfe, just copy and paste whatever you want to quote, then type [ quote ] your message you're quoting [ / quote ] without the spaces.

Uhm, my petition was NOT to directly get a teacher fired, but to convince a counselor that her ridiculous and terrible "teaching" strategies were epic failing and that she honestly was screwing all her students up. Without the back-up of other people's opinions [provided by my petition], the counselors believed it was simply a personal problem between the teacher and a student, not the teacher and ALL the students. Anyway, they found out, said I was "undermining her authority" or something. Whatever.

undermining her authority. . . .

If someone said that to me I'd probably strangle them with my bare hands.

Trust me, when it comes to school lunch healthy just means more disgusting.

Haha, the mandatory healthy food legislations here in NJ made the kids angry... now the lines are 80% shorter and people whine about the food everyday. I personally don't mind the cold sandwiches and veggies.

Go for the petition, though!
