Petitioning for honors program (Indiana Hutton Honors)

Currently, I meet the requirements to be automatically admitted to Indiana University’s Hutton Honors College. I have a 4.0 unweighted gpa and a 33 act, meeting their requirement of either a 3.9 with a 32 act or a 3.8 with a 34.

I am a little worried about my grades dropping before applications are due (I’m a junior right now) and I was hoping someone could tell me how difficult it would be to petition for admission. Do they accept most people who are just barely below the 3.9? Or is it extremely tough to get in without meeting the automatic admission requirements? I will be applying by the early date.

The grade worries are due to extenuating circumstances (physical medical condition), so would that help at all?

They take the weighted GPA for Hutton. I assume your weighted GPA will be above the requirement if you have a 4.0 UW right now.

Thank you! Very helpful.
