Hi mehh1234!

I was recently accepted into Petroleum Engineering at UT this past December. I’ll post my stats below, and hopefully this can help you in some way! Hook em’

Rank: 55/1101 (4.99%)
Unweighted GPA: I’m not sure… We have an odd scaling system at my school.
Weighted GPA: 4.317/5.0
ACT: Cumulative- 32, M: 34, R:34 Wr: 32 S: 27 I didn’t do so hot in science… As you can see
SAT: Not sure… I didn’t do very well either… about at 2020. So I didn’t submit that score.

Course Load: I took only honors or AP for my core classes. For electives, it varied in difficulty.
Senior Year Classes: AP Chem, AP Micro Econ, AP Calc AB, Honors Band, AP English 4

AP Scores: Human Geography (5), Statistics (5), United States History (5), Language and Composition (4), World History (4), Environmental Science (4), European History (4), Spanish Language (4)

EC’s: I had a lot of extra curricular activities in combination with leadership positions so… I’ll just summarize my resume.

Clubs:
-Marching Band (4 years)
-Concert Band (4 years)
-Honors Band (2 years)
-National Junior Honor Society (1 year)
-National Honor Society (3 years)
-Mu Alpha Theta (2 years)
-Spanish Honor Society (2 years)
-Spanish Club (1 year)
-International Club (1 year)
-Key Club (1 year)

Volunteering: For various clubs at our school, volunteering is required as part of membership. So I included that in my resume. I was also very active at my church and within my band program.

-Youth Choir (1 year)
-Church Orchestra (2 years)
-Media Operator during services (3 years)
-Weekly Bible Study (4 years)

-International Club VP (1)
-Band Section Leader (2)
-Spanish Club VP (1)
-NHS VP (1)
-National History Club Secretary (1)

So that’s pretty much it in terms of my overall resume. I did get job junior and senior year, but I didn’t work that many hours. Probably only 5-10 hours a week. I don’t know if my essays could be considering great, but I mean they were decent. I applied around… November 26 or 27th, so pretty close to the deadline. I didn’t turn in any letters of recommendation.

I also recently received a scholarship from the Cockrell School of Engineering for what I assume is from the Honors Engineering Program. However, I haven’t received my letter yet, but I should receive some sort of notification soon regarding the Honors Program. So I’ll try and keep you posted.

Hopefully this was helpful! I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors! UT’s Petroleum Engineering Program is definitely one of the most competitive to get into. So don’t lose hope my friend! :)
